CLIDE members have been busy working on many aspects of digital Emcom.

Betsey, K1EIC, has been touring radio clubs with a presentation she put together on digital communications in Connecticut. Betsey also made recent upgrades and adjustment to her Classic Packet nodes to provide more connectivity for Classic Packet and Winlink2k operators.

Bill, W1GTT has been co-teaching a class with the DEC for Region 4, Wayne
N1CLV on getting started in digital communications.

Paul, N1TUP and Dana, KB1AEV have been working to enhance our WinLink2k capabilities.  Paul also recently participated in a 36 hour shelter drill using Airmail direct between stations to pass shelter data with great success.

Rod, N1FNE, recently did a D-Star demo for the Northville Amateur Radio Association.

KB1KIX has taken over the web pages for CLIDE which you can find at:

http://www.ctares.org/CLIDE/index.htm.      (Hint - add this to your club pages so you will always have the latest on what is on the air for classic packet and Winlink2k!)

CLIDE plans to continue to enhance the classic packet and WinLink2k systems in Connec-ticut and is currently evaluating some software that may make these networks even easier to use. Yes it is free! Stay tuned for more details.

TAPR is coming to Town!
TAPR is the lead group in many digital communication areas, even though the acronym stands for Tuscon Amateur Packet Radio. TAPR will be holding their annual technical meeting (read that sessions on what's new in digital communications, digital voice, APRS and all things digital) in Hartford September 28-30, 2007. Please plan to attend if you can.  Even if you can only make one day, I'm sure you'll learn something new and interesting!

Chuck Rexroad, AB1CR
District Emergency Coordinator for Digital Communication
