Two bare connectors and the plastic shells
Two crimp tools and a wire stripper

The two basic components of a Powerpole - the polycarbonate housings and the contacts

Basic tools needed to make Powerpole connectors.

Clockwise:  Wire stripper, ratchet crimper, GB crimp tool,

Razor or hobby knife (you only need one of the crimp  tools)

Wire being stripped
Red-black wire pair, unstripped

Step 1:  Split about an 1 ½" of power cable.

No need for perfection here, guesstimate just fine.

Step 2:  Strip about ¼" jacket off of the wire.  This can vary depending on wire gauge (12 gauge works almost flawlessly!)
