Every Year Region 5 has several drills, and this year we have a twist.

NWS Albany, NY and the SKYWARN Litchfield County has been requested to assist in reporting details back to NWS on conditions such as Flooding and ICE JAMS. The problem is Region 5 is large and the locations of these areas are not known by all.

This Drill / RECON will be asking the ARES members in the Region to travel to these locations. These locations will be brought up during the next Meeting. How to locate and how to report back to Net Control on the details. (Because during the time of a real event we don't want to travel to the unknown area knowing the possible dangers involved. Thus we wll use a nice clear day to locate Map GPS and Photograph the locations. End result will be a Quick Guide of all areas in region 5 for when the time comes we are prepared. Region 5 Needs your Help in making this happen. I wouldn't want someone from Danbury to travel to Litchfield County and visa-versa. But if you had an EOP for this with maps and Photos/landmarks it will help all of us.

ARES Members in Region 5 need to get together and meet so we can make this happen.

SUBJECT: Basic Spotter Training Class in Waterford CT on July 12th

A basic spotter training class has been scheduled for the Red Cross in Waterford on July 12th at 6:30 PM. I encourage all spotters who need to recertify and all hams who have not yet taken a basic course to attend this session.
