The Meriden Amateur Radio club holds a yearly conference at the Mountain Ridge (formally Mountainside) facility in Wallingford CT. This event is normally attend by 600-700 Amateurs from many towns within the state and surrounding states such as New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. This year's event will be on October 7, 2007. The doors open at 8:30 AM and the various meetings start around 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM

This event is the State Convention for the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), in as such we have representatives from the ARRL attending the convention.

On March 12 the Naugatuck Valley Health District (NVHD) conducted a "footprint" test of their new ham radio installation at NVHD Headquarters in Seymour. The test started out using the 146.985 Ansonia repeater where a roll call was taken by George Andrews, N1YAE, the Zone 1 EC. Reception was noted using the repeater - contacts were logged from Stratford to the South to Torrington to the North to Durham to the East to Southbury to the West. This gave NVHD a 10-mile radius of reliable communications and a 12-mile usable range. I operated mobile from the Quinnipiack Valley Health District (QVHD) parking lot in North Haven on the back side of a hill between Ansonia and North Haven and 2-meter reception there was Q5. We then went to 2-meter Simplex and tested the coverage from there. It was noticeably less reliable but George did hear from stations as far away as Durham and Hamden although he could not be heard at all at QVHD. We then went to 440 MHz Simplex and that was the least reliable mode with few stations heard.
