Are You Really Ready? I don't think so. If an emergency should come about, how will you react? Natural event or not, how will you perform? Storms are predicted and we can prepare for that time. On the other hand, the unexpected is also part of life. ARES in Region 5 has been meeting for several years on a monthly meeting pace, planning and drilling on these types of actions. One of the most important things that came out of these meetings is the EOP: the Emergency Operation Plan. This is a document that will guide you when the time should arise. Did you know there are over 200 repeaters in the state? Each repeater also has a PL tone you must know. Do you have them all programmed into your radios? Do you know which one to go to when there is an emergency? This can become a nightmare to many of you. Because of this, I wish to share this manual with all ARES members in the State of Connecticut. Phase one of this EOP was strictly what to do in Region 5. Phase two was to incorporate the other four regions. This manual is the bible for the ARES member. This manual has the information that will guide you to the correct radio frequencies for your town and to your region and beyond. |
