Welcome to the first issue of "CONNECTED!", CT-ARES® newsletter.

We're going to start right off by having a contest to name the newsletter!

The newsletter will not be simply sent out to everybody automatically, because some folks don't want large files coming in without warning. So, instead, we'll supply a link that one can click on whenever one likes. Also, because the main distribution method will be via a screen on a computer, and not on paper, we'll try a "screen-width" horizontal format, and see how that works.

It means there won't be very much vertical scrolling; and it also means that if you want to print it, you'll find "Landscape" mode will work better. We studied how many folks are using 640 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024, and the larger size screen rezzes, and we find over 84% are using 800 x 600 or 1280 x 1024. Most of the rest are using even higher screen detail, and less than 1% are on 640 x 480. The single most common screen size now-a-days is 1024 x 768. So, this newsletter will go at that size for now. We also find the traditional two-column vertical "virtual piece of 8 1/2 x 11 paper" means one is always scrolling up and down on every page, which seems kind of awkward for the 21st century. So, we'll go wide-screen, and "screen-full", and see how that works for starters.
